FURTHER EMPLOYMENT (officers on agreement only)

At least nine months prior to the completion of the tour(s) of service under

his agreement the person engaged shall be given notice in writing by the Government as to whether it is desired to retain his services and, if so, he will be offered further employment, subject to satisfactory completion of current agreement.

Officers who accept appointment and wish to seek admission for their children to Government English speaking schools will be given the appropriate application forms. Children may be registered for admission to junior school

The normal age when 4 years old; entry is at approximately 5 years of age. of entry to secondary schools is 11 years of age. Officers educating their children locally in Government and aided schools are eligible to receive allowances. The fees for primary schools will be $1330 p.a. from January 1974 and the allowance will then be limited to $798. The fees for secondary schools will be $2530 p.a. from January 1974 and the allowance will then be limited to $1278. No allowances are payable in respect of private schools unless there are not enough places in the public sector.

Officers whose children are receiving secondary education in their country of origin may claim education allowances subject to certain conditions. A resume of the regulations governing the grant of allowances is issued on request.

Some schools in England offer certain facilities, such as scholarships or reduced fees or bursaries, for the children of Overseas Civil Servants. A list of these schools is given in a booklet entitled "Education in the

A leaflet explaining an officer's position under the UK National Insurance Scheme during service overseas and a note regarding the UK Family Allowance Act will be issued (where applicable) to successful candidates.

EXCHANGE CONTROL REGULATIONS

The officer should acquaint himself with the exchange control regulations, wnd towards the end of his tour should check through banking channels regarding the regulations currently in force.
