accumulated up to and including the day preceding the nineteenth or twenty-first birthday respectively, notwithstanding that the son or daughter may have left Hong Kong before reaching the age of 19 or 21;

(c) wherever the person engaged is granted passages for himself and his family

such passages are limited to not more than six fullfare passages.

(ii) (a)

Officers appointed from overseas

Passages to Hong Kong will be provided for the officer and his family on first appointment and, subject to satisfactory completion of the tour of service and to the regulations in force from time to time, to his country

If the officer is not of origin (see Section 9 of this Memorandum). returning for a further tour of service, he must claim and avail himself of passages to his country of origin within one month of ceasing duty. the officer is returning to duty, he will be provided with passages back to Hong Kong on completion of his leave; in such circumstances, a return booking will be made in Hong Kong before the officer's departure on leave.

(b) Officers appointed locally

If

Passages to Hong Kong will not be provided for the officer on first appointment. Passages may be provided for his family if they are resident outside Hong Kong at the time of his appointment, but any excess over the cost of standard passages from the officer's country of origin will be met by the officer. Subject to satisfactory completion of the tour of service and to the regulations in force from time to time passages will be provided for

If the officer and his family to his country of origin (see Section 9). the officer is not returning for a further tour of service, he must claim and avail himself of passages to his country of origin within one month of ceasing duty. If the officer is returning to duty, he will be provided

(iii) Subject to Establishment Regulations on booking of Passages, an officer may

make his own arrangements for a passage and claim reimbursement from Government of an amount not exceeding the cost to Government of the standard passage for which the officer is eligible. (Government receives a discount from B.0.A.C. on all air bookings but also see Section 12(iv)).

(iv) The Government endeavours to provide an officer with passages of the class for

which he is eligible in accordance with the regulations for the time being in force, but it must be understood that if circumstances render it necessary for an officer to be provided with passages of a lower class no claim for compensation will be entertained.
