We discussed the situation on the telephone this morning. a copy of the latest telegram from Hong Kong and of my reply, which was drafted in the light of our conversation. I think the problem is going to be, as you said, that the doctors are not likely to come up with a firm conclusion in a matter of days, but that the excuse of urgent private reasons' will only hold as a first reaction. However, we agreed that it would be better to stick to this for as long as possible rather than suggest a spurious reason which might be difficult to unscramble.
