Re: Hong Kong Government -v- Godber

As a result of enquiries made on our behalf in Hong Kong it appears that

has been detained in Siu Lam, which is a Mental Hospital, from about the time he made the Statement in connection with the above Case.

This is regarded by the Defence as a most serious matter and Counsel has asked us to write to you immediately requesting the following information:-

1.

The date when

became so resident in Siu Lam .

2.

The nature of his illness.

3.

Disclosure of all medical reports on

health

before and since his admission to Siu Lan to which the Hong Kong Government have access

and

4.

Facilities for a medical examination by a Doctor on behalf of the Defence, if

consents.to the same,

We are advised that such evidence would be admissible and relevant to the proceedings by virtue of the decision in Tookey -v- Commissioner of Metropolitan Police 1965 A.C. 595.
