1.

Dew ihr Woods,

I enclose herewith a message from Mr Prendergast, the Director of Operations in the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption, which he has asked me to pass to the Commissioner about the arrest of Mr Godber.

2.

To Mr Prendergast's thanks I add my own, and those of the FCO, for a very efficient exercise. If this is now carried through in the courts, it will remove a substantial political embarrassment in our relations with Hong Kong.

3.

I have been in touch with Commander Morrison as you suggested and have made the connection between him and Russell and Company, the Hong Kong Government's solicitors. Perhaps he or one of his people could provide me with the answers to the second paragraph of Mr Prendergast's message, which I could pass on to Hong Kong? Again very many thanks for your help.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Sho
