Sect. BL 18/3171/72
LUI Sung
8th March 1974
I have been instructed to reply, on behalf of Mr. Blaker, to your letter to him of the 13th January, about Mr. LUI Sung.
1974
Mr. Blaker asks me to say that he is satisfied that the case has been carefully investigated in Hong Kong.
He adds that it appears to him that Mr. LUI has been fairly treated and that his case was exhaustively investigated, In fact, Mr. Blaker has expressed the opinion that Mr. LUI seems to have been treated with considerable forebearance by the authorities.
Mr. Blaker also comments that Mr. LUI Sung now has a house and kitchen on Crown land, despite the fact
that Mr. LUI that he was refused permission to build Sung's claim that he lost cash from his house was not substantiated - that one of his daughters apparently agrees that the house was not touched - and that there is no evidence beyond his allegation of any demand for a bribe.
In these circumstances Mr. Blaker regrets that he cannot himself see that anything further can be done for Mr. LUI.
