Elliott dated 20th October 1973 repeating the allegations but saying that Mr. LEE had demanded $220 (not $200 as stated by Mr. LUI Sung) and that on the 23rd March 1972 officers of the Resettlement Department had demolished the house with the children inside and had stolen $850 from a drawer (not trunk as alleged by Mr. IUI Sung paragraph 7 above). Previous papers on the case were again reviewed in the Secretariat and the District Commissioner, New Territories, was asked whether it would be possible for permission to be given to Mr. LUI Sung to re-erect his kitchen on the condition that the total ground floor area of the house and kitchen did not exceed 400 sq.ft. The District Commissioner was also asked whether written notice of the intention to demolish the kitchen had been given.

An acknowledgement was sent to Mrs. Elliott on the 5th November 1973 saying that Mr. LUI's case had been the subject of exhaustive investigation in the past and that it seemed doubtful that anything further could be done. However, certain clarification was being sought from the District Commissioner, New Territories and that she would be advised further when his reply was received.
