Condemned Prisoner: LEUNG Wang @

LEUNG Wing-sang

Report by Home Affairs Department

I understand the Secretary for the New Territories will report his findings as a result of consultation with the nearest relatives of the prisoner who live in Kwai Chung.

2.

Enquiries have been made by the staff of the Wan Chai City

District Office where the nearest relatives of the victim live.

3.

Mr. CHAN Kwok-keung, sworn brother of the victim, cannot be found at the given address. Madam CHENG Yung, the employer of the victim, said that the victim co-operated well with his colleagues and rendered a satisfactory service during the period of his employment which lasted for about two years.

Madam CHENG seldom talked with the victim because

of language barrier and therefore gave no further comments on him.

40

There is now little public interest in this case. However, the consensus of opinion remains that the death sentence is the only effective deterrent to murder and should be carried out.
