1. In the light of the continued reports of demands for the death penalty to be carried out in Hong Kong the following statistics are perhaps of some interest:-

According to the Hong Kong newspapers there have been 32 murders committed this year (as at 30 May). Over the full year this would average out at a final toll of about 77 homicides. If this in fact does prove to be reasonably accurate it would be a considerable reduction in the number of homicides reported in the last two years:-
