2. LAW Fat-kiu, F/56 (The Prisoner's mother)

The mother revealed that the Prisoner's behaviour and working habit improved slightly after he came out from the Training Centre. Before that he sometimes stayed outside in the evening without prior consent of his parents. He was then unsteady in work and had frequent contact with dubicus characters. Before the offence he worked with his elder brother and gave no oause for concern until the present offence.

3. TSE Lam-sum, M/26 (The Prisoner's elder brother)

The brother was also of the opinion that the Prisoner's behaviour and working attitudes improved since he left the Training Centre. The brother used to take the Prisoner to work together and to keep an eye on him. The brother revealed that the offence was committed during the time of unemployment due to lack of work.

4. Mr. LEE Ting-cheong, male (After-care officer at Cape

Collinson Training Centre)

Mr. LEE was the supervising officer of the Prisoner. He disclosed that the Prisoner was admitted into the Training Centre on 26.11.1971 and was discharged on 4.1.1973. According to Mr. LEE, the Prisoner's response to aftercare supervision had been satisfactory before the offence. He worked with his elder brother and kept in touch with Mr. LEE.

(b) Relevant to victim's background

1. Mr. TSOI Tung, M/26 (The victim's sworn brother)

Mr. TSOI is an earth coolie. He moved out from Room 1456, Block 1, Lam Tin Estate, 14/F, a year ago to a new address at No. 122, Section 5, Sam Ka Village, Lai Yue Mun. Mr. TSUI was also a clansman of the deceased. They became sworn brother some 10 years ago in their native place. According to Mr. TSOI the Deceased came to Hong Kong by illegal entry in 1967. Apart from the sworn brother the deceased had neither next of kin nor relatives in Hong Kong. His parents, parental grandmother and 4 siblings were said to be in Shan Mei, China. He was the eldest child in the family. He sometimes had remittance to his parents in China. The deceased was an iron worker, he used to stay at the place of work or with friends and at times he stayed with the sworn brother at Room 1456, Block 1, Lam Tin Estate and had no fixed abode of his own.

H. INTERVIEW REPORT ON PRISONER

The Prisoner was visited and interviewed in the Stanley Prison on 21st January, 1974. During the course of interview he admitted that he became a member of the Wo Hing Wo Triad Society more than a year before the offence. He said the deceased belonged to the Sun Yee On Triad Society. He was calm and showed no emotional upset throughout the whole interview.
