To publish a fraudulent prospectus and unaudited: company accounts is definitely an offence.

As in other countries it is not always an easy offence to prove and Hong Long is not alone in having some companies which commit this kind of practice.

No factories are allowed to employ children under 14 and the Government prosecutes factory owners when they are found to be doing so.

What

This is another generality which misleads. constitutes a ranking officer? All police officers have ranks and taking the strength of the police as being more than 13,000 (not including the Auxiliaries) the statement is probably true. If it is meant to convey the impression that 30 'high' ranking officers had asked to resign, the statement is a lie.

Britain has exploited Hong Kong as a detached component of the U.. By denying basic political and social rights to the population of the Colony, London has actively overseen the maintenance of those conditions which would allow for high rates of exploitation, high levels of capital accumulation, and high profits.

This is contradictory to what the authors quote on page 23:

"In recent years of the new investment coming in about half has been from the U...; 2-26% from Japan and about 20% from Britain, with most of the rest originating from overseas Chinese concerns.
