Note regarding Convention No. 83. This convention permits Member States of the ILO to make declarations on behalf of their non-metropolitan territories in respect of certain conventions which might or might not have been ratified by the member State. Convention No. 83 was ratified by the United Kingdom on 27th March 1950 but only comes into effect on 15th June 1974 following a second ratification which was registered (by Australia) on 15th June 1973.
