NOTIFICATION OF SERVICE COMMANDERS

Please see the attached draft MOD signal. I have arranged with MOD that any comments we can let them have by the end of today can be considered for incorporation in the paper to be taken by the Chiefs of Staff on 20 November. The date of issue of the signal would depend on the dates on which we decide to initiate consultations with allied Governments. Please note that the dates given are the dates by which reductions would be completed, not the dates on which they would start.

2. I should be grateful to know as soon as possible today if you have any comments. I have already drawn MOD's attention to the fact that we would not subscribe to the treatment of Masirah in paragraph 1 (f).
