In paragraph 12(e), last line should read as follows:
"the overall flying rate for RAF aircraft cut by 10 per cent".
16. In paragraph 12(f) the first line should read "the large
reduction of 52,000 in uniformed personnel would involve a
substantial".
17. In paragraph 18, delete the third sentence. The fourth
sentence should be amended to read as follows: "A major cut
would involve abandoning national R and D altogether in some
particular fields and relying on foreign purchase of equipment,
the financial effects of which are difficult to quantify".
18. In paragraph 19, at the beginning of the second sentence,
insert the words "If these judgements are right,". In the
last line, insert the words "even if" between "UK" and "dispro-
portionate".
19. In paragraph 21, the CDS argued that one reference to the
Chiefs of Staff was sufficient.

In paragraph 23, the CDS asked for the third sentence to be
redrafted, but it was not redrafted at the meeting. In the
fourth sentence, delete the words "this national context" and
substitute "either of these contexts"

sentence, substitute the word "warheads" for "weapons".
22. In paragraph 29, second sentence, after the words "the

Governor)". At the end of the third line of the second sentence,
