(only if wife and/or children are granted passages on first appointment in the case of a locally appointed officer)

Reimbursement of these amounts applies to officers travelling from Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India or Pakistan only; the amounts which may be claimed by officers from other countries will be determined by the Accountant General in Hong Kong.

(iii) Reimbursement will not be made in respect of charges

for packing cases, (except on first appointment) packing cases, (except on first appointment) packing, storage, insurance, and customs duty. If fully itemised invoices are not submitted when payment of the allowance is claimed, the claimant will be required to certify that the charges do not include any charges for packing cases (except on first appointment) packing, insurance, customs duty, or storage. If this certificate cannot be given, the claimant must state the amounts included for such charges.

The rate of baggage allowances for children is governed by the age of the children at the date the journey commences. In case of a round-trip passage, i.e. for the purpose of vacation leave, the journey is regarded as having commenced on the date of departure from liong Kong.

Baggage allowance is only payable to an officer who travels by air, but any officer who travels part way by air may be eligible for a proportionate baggage allowance at the discretion of the account- ant General.

The total amount which may be reimbursed to an officer under this Regulation will not exceed the aggregate of the maximum amounts in respect of six adults, or the number of passages taken, which- ever is the less.
