DATE OF AFFOINTMENT AND INCREMENTAL DATE (i)
The date of first appointment is normally the date upon which the officer leaves the country of engagement for Hong Kong, provided that he travels by air and proceeds by the most direct route. If he breaks his journey or travels by an indirect route or by sea, the extra trav- elling time is deducted before determining his date of appointment. In the case of an officer appointed locally the date of first appointment is the date upon which he assumes duty in Hong Kong.
(ii) - Increments of salary, if
will be payable from the officer's incremental date which is determined, in accordance with his date of first appointment as follows:-
(a) If he assumes duty in Hong Kong between 1st and
the 15th of the month, his incremental date will be the 1st of that month
(b) If he assumes duty in Hong Kong between the 16th
and the end of the month, his incremental date will be the 1st of the following month.
An increment will be granted only if an officer's conduct (including fidelity, obedience to orders, propriety) and diligence (meaning steady application, attentiveness to duties and industry) have been satisfactory during the precoding XOAP:
SALARY
(i) (a) For officers on first appointment
(ii)
Half salary will be paid for the period of the direct unbroken air journey from the country of engagement to Hong long. The period of any such journey shall be reckoned as commencing on the day of departure and ending on the day previous to the date of arrivil in Hong Kong. Full salary will be paid from the date of arrival in Hong Kong.
(b) For officers on rc-engagement
Full salary will be payable during the subsequent tour of service from the day following the date on which the period of vacation leave granted in respect of the officer's previous tour of duty concludes and also during any leave granted in respect of the subsequent tour of service.
(c) For officers appointed locally
Full salary will be paid from the date of assump- tion of duty in Hong Kong.
Salaries are payable in local currency, i.e. Hong Kong dollars and are monthly in arrears.
(iii) Emoluments received in Hong Kong are subject to
local taxation.
(iv) The salary of an officer is liable to deductions under
Sections 5; 7; 8; 15; 17; and 26.
