Dear Mr Dinwiddy

Some Papers for your perusal subject to my

telephone talk with you today.

If we hope to save our commerce interests in the Far East we can try the scholar way.

The influence of Shakespeare with his italian English on mankind has been profound. Apart from our tramp steamer navy which did a good job from nelson onwards, we are losing all this through 5th rate politicians with so many minders (mouths to feed). So instead of chateaubriand (carr-carmes) being minsters (Northern Ireland etc we have Ormes and maudlings. The Foreign Office must have the maudling record of Rouiba and the State Paper reticence on this cannot help the stock market. It damages the futures speaking classically.

Ask the Foreign Secretary to grant an interview for the Hong Kong Far East Language Committee setup alongside the EEC plans for education in europe.

I am sure every embassy will welcome my proposals as to the World Language Committee. Do let us try and avoid the shadow of mosley with walker junta and co.

I see you were with the Lord Chancellor's Office.

It always seems strange to me that a group of secretaries(State) in Whitehall with all the know how of running England have never been able to mould the Commons and the Lords into a workable useful

• firm called England.

Unless England does something very intelligent we shall come an awful historical cropper. The Press in England is stone raving

senile.' The silly word Patriotism why didnt they use the term Common Sense this at least has the common touch.

-

What is this thing we Freedom call, by which, the nations rise and

fall ?-A democrat's dream that men of sense will one day meet without pretence.
