Dear Sir,

I should like to add my voice to the ever-growing protest against the trade in wildlife in Hong Kong. I am aware that some action has been taken to control this unfortunate trade, but further legislation is needed, and then must be enforced, which is probably the most difficult thing of all.

I am in correspondence with the Director of one of Britain's wildlife reserves for endangered species. He sent me a copy of a letter from a dealer in Hong Kong, offering him a large number of "Chinese reptiles/amphibians as well as the Siamese species". You may have a copy of this letter if it would assist you in your enquiries. The Director himself described this as an "appalling and blatant trade", and is doing everything within his power to bring it to an end. It is also up to everyone of us who is concerned with the conservation of wildlife to do what we can to ensure that there is any wildlife left for future generations to learn from and enjoy.

The danger posed specifically to China's wildlife by this trading, not to mention the cruelty involved, is such that I ask you to do all in your power to ensure that it ends.

Yours faithfully,

I. Tormer

(Mrs) J. Turmer
