Mr Wang explained that he was unfamiliar with this subject but that he would take it up with the relevant authorities. He commented that in some cases the animals would no doubt be for consumption since the eating habits in He South China were very different from those in the North. also felt that in some cases the Chinese authorities might

have a different view of which animals needed protection.
