Can your deptment do anything to stop the live

importation of rare animals and birds from Red China into HongKong. I first heard of this trade when listening to Radio 4 programme 'Who's killing the China Animals'.

The se animals are imported in horrible conditions and killed inhumanely, the eagles are caught in China have their wings and beaks wired togeter, and transported like this.

Can representations be made to Peking on Conservation grounds (more likely to succeed than prtests about cruelty) and also rep- resentations to the Hong Kong goverment to ban imports which after all only pander to a market for a gourmet trade

Hoping something can be done,

Yours faithfully,

Mrs. J.B.Lewis
