Thank you for your letter of 28 February enclosing a copy of a letter from Mrs L Spicer of 15 Hill Close, Charlbury, Oxfor about the Endangered Species Bill and the question of the impet of wildlife from China into Hong Kong.

We still have to reply to numerous Members of Parliament members of the public who have written to us on this subject. now have sufficient material for an adequate reply as far as Hong Kong is concerned, and are now waiting for a report from Pe ti on the reaction of the Chinese authorities to the Embassy's proac When we have this, and when we have a Minister, we shall be clearing the terms of our proposed reply.
