APPENDIX II

Proposed Visitors List

The following list makes initial suggestions of names of suitable persons from the member states of the E.E. C. who might be considered for sponsored visits to Hong Kong. lames should be rechecked with British Embassies or with our overseas representa- tives in Europe before firm invitations are extended. It is recommended that ten fully sponsored visits be budgetted for during 1975/76 provided a government overseas publicity unit has been established by that time, capable of handling these visits. These first ten priorities are marked with an asterisk. In addition six other persons should be persuaded with immediate effect to divert through Hong Kong during their Far Eastern travels and such visits may be achieved without government expenditure or with limited expenditure. These six names are marked '-'.

Foreign Parliamentarians and government officials from member states are not included by name at this stage since further advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office should be sought before extending invitations in these categories. Also specific suggestions have been withheld in respect of specialist professional inward missions such as medical or environmental groups since these will depend on the particular Hong Kong project being considered as the basis for an overseas public relations promotion.
