HONG KONG'S INTEREST REF

I must thank you for your two letters on the above subject dated 14 and 22 February addressed for the information of Mr George Marshall, at present on home leave in Britain.

I am not sure whether you are aware of the fact but for some time now we have been receiving visits from a Mr Francis Ng. This gentleman is stationed in Stockholm as a representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and in addition to making fairly regular visits to Copenhagen, calling on Government Departments etc, he liaises with us in regard to any Hong Kong commercial matters that arise. Although these are very few in number he has been able to advise and in most cases deal directly with them. Under these circumstances I would imagine that there is at least some understanding in Danish Government circles which should be a good basis on which Nigel Watt can build.

Possibly because of this existing connexion Nigel Watt has now arranged to call on Mr Marshall here in Copenhagen on 22 March.

Yours sincerely
