5. Dodge already has dealings with our Commercial Section through Malcolm Dougal; this involves occasional research on quotas and forwarding to the Hong Kong trade office at Amsterdam requests from French importers. Dodge and Dougal also had a useful visit to the Ministry of Economy (DREE Quai Branly) to discuss quotas. This arrangement works well and there is no reason why it should not continue as it is. Certainly where trade policy questions are concerned it is better that these continue to be handled by the Embassy.

6. Watt mentioned that the wife of the Head of Agence France- Presse's English Service - and old friend, whom he had known in Hong Kong - might possioly become a regular collaborator.
