also important to the countries negotiating for association under Protocol 22. But we consider that the Community should agree to the principle of GSP concessions on these products as soon as the trade provisions of the new Convention of

Association come into force.

(c) Commission's Supplementary Proposals

6. We are glad to see some new additions and deeper tariff cuts have been agreed by the Community. We are encouraged that some of the United Kingdom's supplementary requests have proved to be generally acceptable to the rest of the Community and hope that further progress can be made in this direction in the future.

In respect of castor oil we support the

Commission's proposal for a cut to 4 per cent. India has a large trade with the United Kingdom

and we see the need that the reduction should not be abused by wealthier third countries. [If, as is likely, the Italians refuse to accept 4 per cent7 We can accept a tariff of 6 per cent provided that those supplementary improvements which I have just mentioned are generally acceptable to the rest of the Community.
