The Governor is not yet willing to turn to outside financial advice, though he has discussed his dilemma both with me and with Sir D Watson. We clearly cannot give him open comments which he could quote to Mr Haddon-Cave in refutation, but I think he would be grateful for private advice on which he knew he could rely. If therefore you have any comments on the Exchange Fund report and accounts which could be helpful to Sir Murray MacLehose, I suggest that I should convey these to him in a private letter.
