China Motor Bus Co., Ltd.

Comments/Suggestions

(i) Proposing to round down bills to nearest

50 cents or $1.

(ii) Satisfied with present denominations.

(i) In favour of 20 cent and $5 coins and

also 25 cent and $2 coins but preference

for the first two if new issues are to

be limited.

(ii) Future fare range likely to be

increasingly directed towards multiples

of 20 cents.

Chinese Manufacturers'

Association of Hong Kong.

Cross-Harbour Tunnel Co.,

Ltd.

Exchange Banks' Association (Comments of members and also leading banks outside the Association.)

Satisfied with present denominations.

(i) No undue problems with present currency 'mix' (notes 87%, coins 13%) except for damaged notes, lack of uniformity in

colour of notes, and possible security risk due to value/amount ratio.

(ii) An increase in the coinage may facilitate automated counting and automatic unmanned

cash collection, but would require a

revision of the cash pay-in system and

would create difficulties in moving coins between Booth/Cash Office/Bank. (iii) Conclusion: present note arrangements

satisfactory but could be improved by consistency in colour identification.

(i) larger denominations, e.g. 25, $2 and

$5 coins will be most useful in future. (ii) 56, 106, 20/50, $1, $2 and $5

denominations should make up a new

range. Advance notice of the introduction

/of.
