CHAPTER VI
SUMMARY OF CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter lists the Committee's main conclusions
and recommendations.

We have concluded that:
(i) there is a need for a coin between the present
10 and 50 cent coins and this should be a 20 cent
coin;
(ii) there is a need for a coin between the present $1
coin and $5 note and this should be a $2 coin; (iii) the $5 note should be replaced by a $5 coin.

In setting the specifications for the new coins, we have found it necessary to review the sizes of the existing range. (Chapter III, paragraphs 43 and 53).

We have concluded that it would be impracticable simultaneously to introduce coins of new denominations and replace
the existing coins with new ones but of a different size. (Chapter III, paragraph 53).

We propose that no change should be made to the present
size of the 5 cent and 10 cent coins but eventually consideration should be given to reducing the size of the latter. (Chapter III, paragraph 53).

We recommend that the metals currently in use, namely nickel brass and cupro-nickel, should continue to be used but we consider that
the opportunity should be taken to introduce uniformity in the metal
content of the cent and dollar denominations.
