It will be the intention instead, if the proposals are accepted, to release to the press full details of the specification of the new coins and the timetable for the changeover, together with a full summary of the reasons for the changes and for the selection of the new shapes and sizes. It would be useful to stress that the new coinage will not involve any change in the value of the currency units (unlike, say, the decimalisation in the UK), so that it will not present an opportunity for unscrupulous traders to increase prices.
