In response to a recent question in the Legislative Council from Dr the Honourable S. Y. Chung, an assurance was given that Government would make every effort to have this legislation enacted before the end of the current session. Whether this target can be achieved will depend on the nature and extent of public reaction after the publication of the bill.

Honourable Members will be asked to advise whether the Employment (Amendment) (No 2) Bill 1974 (at Annex B) should now be published in the Gazette and introduced into the Legislative Council.

(The Secretary for Social Services (Acting) (Mr P. B. WILLIAMS), the Commissioner of Labour (Acting) (Mr J. N. HENDERSON) and Crown Counsel (Mr E. R. ASTIN) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
