You will wish to see the attached memorandum enclosing the Employment (Amendment) (No 2) Bill 1974 Severance Pay on Redundancy. This Bill is being considered by ExCo on 4 June.

As far as I can see, the Bill does not make provision for cases where an employee dies or is totally disabled after he has been given notice (paragraph 21 of your recent report).

In view of what is said in paragraph 3 of the memorandum, it will be interesting to see if this legislation is enacted during the current session. should receive the minutes of the ExCo meeting of 4 June in about 2 weeks' time; these minutes will say whether the Bill has been introduced into the Legislative Council or whether it was deferred for any reason.
