WORKING LUNCH FOR THE GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG : WEDNESDAY 18 DECEMBER

1.

We spoke about this. Lord Goronwy-Roberts will be chairing an Office meeting on 18 December, to be attended by the Governor of Hong Kong and senior FCO officials, and he would like the discussion to be continued over a working lunch.

2.

The lunch would be for a total of 8-10 persons. I should be grateful if you would confirm that the necessary funds can be made available, indicating the permitted level of expenditure per head.

3.

Lord Goronwy-Roberts hosted a similar lunch for the Governor of Hong Kong on 18 June. I enclose a copy of the authorisation which Miss Lawrence gave on that occasion for the necessary expenditure.
