ENTRY TO THE UNITED KINGDOM

Entry to the United Kingdom of holders of passports issued to citizens

of the United Kingdom and Colonies by the Governor of Hong Kong has been subject

to immigration control since restrictions were first imposed by the Commonwealth

Immigrants Act 1962. The position remains substantially unchanged under the

Immigration Act 1971.

ENTRY CERTIFICATES

Possession of an entry certificate is not a compulsory requirement for

Commonwealth citizens who wish to come to this country as visitors, but

the obtaining of a certificate will avoid

difficulty or delay on arrival in the United Kingdom. An entry certificate

takes the form of an endorsement in the passport and is normally valid for

presentation at a United Kingdom port within six months of issue.

A special type of entry certificate endorsed "Visitor B" valid for use

within 12 months of issue is available to accredited representatives of

business enterprises of some standing in Commonwealth countries and to people
