To extend contacts between the present Administration and the Japanese Government,

To return the visit of the Japanese Minister responsible for the Environment, Mr Miki, who was here from 6 to 11 May.

Last year's talks took place during Mr Tanaka's visit to the UK. It is therefore the turn of the Secretary of State to visit Japaz. A submission is however being made that if he is unable to do so, the FUS should go instead.

HM Ambassador at Tokyo has suggested that the Chancellor of the Exchequer might be the

appropriate Minister for the purpose.

Mr Crosland when he was here, and Mr Crosland accepted in principle.
