Thank you for your letter AF/866/74/S4C (Air) of 5 April about the annual visit to the Services in Hong Kong by MPs and Peers.

Assuming that the Political Adviser agrees, we see no objection to the visitors paying calls on Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils.

You may remember that I suggested last year that the Hong Kong Commissioner in London might attend the briefing meeting for the MPs. I am sure that he could provide helpful advice. Perhaps you could bear this in mind when you are considering arrangements for briefing the party.
