Dear Denys,
VISIT TO HONG KONG
1.
The Governor kindly sent me a telegram saying that my proposal to visit Hong Kong from 8 to 13 July (FCO Telegram No 116 to Seychelles), was acceptable.
2.
I am, of course, very ready to do what you and your Government think most appropriate. The following suggestions are only ideas which might be fitted in if you think it right.
(a) If Kinnear has arrived as the new Senior Trade Commissioner,
I ought to see him.
(b) Could I see the Commodore and visit the Army (: Gurkhas).
(c)
If the opportunity arises I would be glad to meet a group of young District Officers informally for a chat, and perhaps also a group of student leaders. On previous visits contacts of this kind have proved most stimulating and educative for me.
(d) High Island Scheme?
COF
(e) Call on new C.J. and the Bishop?
(f)
Walled City:
(g) Drug re-habilitation centre?
(h) In addition, of course, I would be glad to see any of the
Senior Civil Servants who will accept me, but perhaps especially Clinton, Hobley, Jones FK Li, Davies, Robertson, Cater, Prendergast, Slevin, Bray, Lightbody, Donald, and Williams (in no particular order).
