the word used in ECAFD's own Temes of Reference na applying to both members and associate members of the organisation.

Having said this, I do not wish to suggest that any amendment be made to the present draft report on this account. llowever, perhaps the point could be borne in mind for future conferences and meetings; it may indeed be that it is already on record

separately clsewhere within the ECAFE Decretariat?

(ii) the second matter relates to a remark of mine which

is not directly reflected in the report. Chis was to the effect that the CAFE Secretariat nicht act as a clearing house for exchange of information.

hat I had in mind here was that, if a member wished to know what information there was available on any particular subject, or what cources of advice there were, within the ragion, they could write to the Secretariat who could then either provide the necessary information or circulate the request to other countries. I am not too sure myself whether the Secretariat does play any positive role at this time on these lines but I record the point for what it is worth and in case you might be able to follow it up (there was also the question of organi- ging smaller working groups which will no doubt be pursued);

(iii)

there was then the question of the printing of 50473 documents (which is done in Hong Kong). As I indi cated, I don't think that we could go to the length of proof-reading. However, I would like to confirm that if there is any other assistance we can give to help matters along, e.g. by acting as your liaison contact on the spot with the printers, you have only to let us know. For example, we would be happy to discuss basic requirements with the printers and it might be possible to speed communication if you used us as a post box in your correspondence with them. I believe that Ben Wok spoke with Ken Clark about the possibility of utilising some new equipment which our Government Printer iz obtaining which will enable him to create print proofs from magnetic tapes derived from computers. e will look into the question of the capacity of new euipment and let you know whether it would be possible to allow outside persons to use its facilities; no doubt a fee would be chargeable, (but strictly on a cost basis) but in any case it will be about a year before anything is likely to transpire.
