DEFENSIVE NOTE:

The Hong Kong Mass Transit System

The Hong Kong Government have signed a Letter of Intent with

a Japanese consortium to build an underground railway inHong Kong

at a fixed price of HK$5,000 million (say £450 million).

Negotiations on this Letter of Intent are continuing.
