I wonder if you could help me with an enquiry from Mr Hamilton-Jones who is working on the FC08s Programme Analysis and Review on policy towards dependent territories.

We have mentioned in the country note on Hong Kong for the Review, the US satellite tracking station in Hong Kong. We have now been asked to provide the date of its establishment, and, if there exists a lease or Agreement between HMG and the US, the date of

termination or renewal. I have looked back as far

as our files go on satellite stations, but virtually all the papers deal only with the two Cable & Wireless communication stations in Hong Kong. These I believe are next to the site (Stanley) of the US site. 1968/9 have found two references to the United States site

(flagged references attached), but these do not give me the dates required. Have you any further information on your files please?
