Ref. Mr Crowson's minute 31 January and my minute
On reading paragraph 4 of Mr Crowson's minute, I realised that I had missed out one rather important word in paragraph 5 of my minute. In the second sentence I meant to write:
"The possible fish and sea bed resources in the 200 mile EEZ off the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Monserrat, the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Seychelles might make these territories more economically self sufficient and, therefore, ready for independence.'
more
I was meaning to indicate that the EEZ resources would be of value to the territories in question; but on the information available, they did not seem of sufficient value to warrant the UK retaining sovereignty over the territories.
