EEC RULES FOR SUB-CONTR CTING TC MEMBER COUNTRIES

1.

I attach a copy of the rules referred to by Mr Cottrell in paragraph C of his letter and the relevant portion of the rules is in Section II of the annex.

2. The position is that a sub-contractor is not a cosignatory to the contract. The principal contractor bears the sole responsibility to the buyer for the performance of the contract. within the Community a sub-contractor is automatically included in the cover which may be granted to the principal contractor and in a contract valued over 10 million units of account (roughly £4,200,000) it shall be up to 30% of the

value of the contract.
