In any case, the DTI assure us that the wider consequences of the approval of Japanese equipment will be taken fully into account.

4. I understand that before the team left London/DTI had little information on the possible reprecussions for Lloyd's Register of the arrangements being contemplated. They therefore attach importance to the reports from the team on the possible benefit to Hong Kong and detriment to Lloyd's Register which could result from the proposed arrangements and will pay a good deal of atten- tion to this question on the team's return.
