(18) On 1st March, 1973, acting on information, officers of the Narcotics Bureau raided No. 33, Star Street, Ground Floor, Wan Chai. After forcible entry they found 87 blocks of '999' brand morphine and 52 packets of raw opium hidden behind a wooden board at the rear of the premises. The total seizure comprised 109.4 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 91.65 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine and 87.54 kilogrammes of raw opium. Enquiries failed to establish ownership of the drugs and no arrest was made.

(19) On 8th March, 1973, officers of the Narcotics Bureau carried out two raids on premises in Kowloon. One took place at No. 28, Boundary Street, 8th Floor. A search of the premises produced nothing. However, a man, Ho Che-ming (0149/1807/2494), found on the premises, was a part-owner of the second address to be raided, the Lee Wah Arts Factory at 126 Tam Kung Road, Ground Foor. Ho was taken to Tam Kung Road where, with keys in his possession he unlocked the factory door. The factory was searched and 25 blocks of ‘999' brand morphine, a large quantity of No. 3 heroin, two jerry cans of acetic anhydride and eight large packets of caffeine were discovered. Ho was arrested. The total seizure comprised 33.669 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 29.4862 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine and 6.6046 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 2.8706 kilogrammes of salts of esters of morphine. A third raid was carried out at No. 21D, Nga Tsin Wai Road, 3rd Floor, Kowloon, the residence of a woman, CHAN Yuk-ying (7115/3768/5391). No drugs were found in the premises, but CHAN was arrested because she was Ho's partner in the Lee Wah Arts Factory. Ho and CHAN were jointly charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. Both were convicted and each sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
