(9) On 17th April, 1973, an American male, David Jonathan ANDREWS, 44 years, arrived at Kai Tak Airport from Bangkok. He was searched by officers of the Preventive Service and inside his briefcase they found three cigarettes containing 1.1 grammes of cannabis. ANDREWS was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs. He was convicted and sentenced to 2 months imprisonment suspended for one year.

(10) On 8th May, 1973, a party of police officers boarded a junk moored off the Hong Kong and Yaumati Ferry Pier at the Yeung Uk Road, Tsuen Wan, New Territories. The vessel was searched and 44 gunny sacks of raw opium and 7 packages of morphine blocks were seized. Three men, CHEUNG Chi-keung (1728/1807/1730), CHEUNG Chi-shing (1728/1807/2052) and Li Shu-tai (2621/ 2885/1601) were arrested. The total seizure consisted of 1,423.98 kilogrammes of raw opium and 214.96 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 183.81 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine.

(11) On 10th May, 1973, following information received from the arrested persons, a search was made of the sea-bed off Tsing Yi Island and this resulted in the recovery of another 3 gunny sacks of raw opium. The total weight was 97.04 kilogrammes of raw opium. The three arrested men have been charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. The case will be heard in the Supreme Court.

(12) On 22nd May, 1973, an American male, Leon CUNNINGHAM, 23 years, arrived at Kai Tak Airport from Bangkok. He was searched by officers of the Preventive Service and 0.6 viable cannabis seeds were found in his trouser pocket. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs. He was convicted and fined $350.00-HK.
