Mr J K E Broadley (Personnel Operations Department)

1. I attach a copy of a letter from Sir A, de la Mare in which he gives his agreement to a proposal from the Hong Kong Government that two Hong Kong officials should be appointed to his staff. One of these would be based in the Embassy in Bangkok, the other at the Consulate in Chiang Mai. For the reason outlined by the Ambassador in paragraph 1 of his letter we should like an approach to be made to the Thai Government as soon as possible about the suggested appointments.

2. I should be grateful if you would say whether you see any objection to the proposed appointments.
