PROPOSED UN AD HOC COMMITTEE FOR SOUTH EAST ASIA

1. Mr Train has now received formal approval from the Home Office that he be nominated as UK representative to the UN Ad Hoc Committee. He has, however, pointed out that this is contingent upon the Committee being approved by ECOSOC and our nomination being formally requested.

2. I have arranged a meeting for 10.30 am on Thursday 12 April with Mr Train, who will be accompanied by his deputy, Mr Kendall, and Mr Wenben-Smith of UN Depart- ment. Mr Wenban-Smith mentioned that Mr Hand of his department will also probably attend. My minute of 23 March at folio 35 refers.
