Many thanks for your letter of 24 May.
I have heard from Murray MacLehose how successful the recent Arts Festival in Hong Kong was, and I should like to offer you my warmest congratulations on this success. It seemed to me most encouraging that you were able to attract so many local people, and at the same time help to put Hong Kong more firmly on the international cultural map. I have a feeling, to judge from reports which I have had, that in future an even greater effort should be made in attracting this local support, even if it means that fewer block bookings can be made available to the tourist agencies.
I do wish you every success for the 1974 and 1975 Festivals.
