CHRISTMAS ADJOURNMENT DEBATE

The debate on the motion for the Christmas Adjournment will probably take place on Thursday 20 December and the Lord President will require short notes on topics likely to arise.

Members are apt to raise in this debate any topics of current interest as reasons why the House should not adjourn and the FCO subjects which seem most likely are:

3. I should be grateful if notes on these subjects, on blue crested paper with 3 copies, could reach me by 1 pm Monday 17 December. Each note should be in two parts, "Line to Take" and "Background". The "Line to Take" should be a short paragraph of no more than 3-4 sentences which the Lord President can use verbatim explaining why there is no need to keep the House in session in order to debate that subject and should include any references to recent Parliamentary Debates or Questions subject. The background note should be short and cover no more than one side of foolscap.
