Now that

has been convicted under Section 10 of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, we wondered what disciplinary action you were now thinking of taking against him. Will you, for instance, be recommending his dismissal under C.R.58? Presumably any such action will have to await the results of his Appeal, but it would be helpful to be kept informed of your intentions.

On the more general issue of retirement in the public interest and C.R.59 and 55, it would be useful, in dealing with future cases, to receive your views on the points raised in our telegram no. 1052.
