You wrote to Dick Crowson on 13 September enclosing a letter from the Commissioner of Police in which he asks whether we could pursue with Mr T Driberg MP, the allegations made by his informant.

You might like to know that Mr Royle has spoken again to Mr Driberg about this case. I am afraid Mr Driberg confirmed that his informant would not be willing to come forward to give evidence. Mr Driberg however told Mr Royle that he was content about the way corruption is being handled in Hong Kong. am sorry we could not be more helpful than this, but in the circumstances I am afraid there is nothing further we can do.
